Brian Umony (born December 12, 1988 in Jinja ) is a Ugandan soccer player who has been playing in Ethiopia for Saint-George SA since 2015 .

Career

Brian Umony started his career at Nakawa United in 2003 . Just a year later he came to Naguru SC , where he played until 2007. Then he moved to Kampala City Council FC and scored fifteen goals in his first season, was king of the league goalscorer and managed to win the championship with his team. He was also voted Uganda Footballer of the Year in 2008. In the 2008/09 season, the club missed second place in the table, tied with the first. In June 2009 he completed a one-week trial training session with the South African club Supersport United and then signed a two-year contract. But just one year later, after twelve games and only two goals, he was dismissed from his club on July 8, 2010. On August 31, he was signed by the University of Pretoria team , Tuks FC, for a year.

In February 2011 he was loaned out to the Portland Timbers from Major League Soccer for a year . On March 26, he made his league debut in the 2-0 loss to Toronto FC when he came on for Jorge Perlaza in the 73rd minute . In his second game against New England Revolution , he played the entire second half.

In January 2012 he moved to the Vietnamese club Becamex Bình Dương . After only twelve league appearances for Becamex Bình Dương, he moved to the Tanzanian club Azam FC in December 2012 .

National team

Umony was part of the Ugandan national soccer team for the first time at the 2008 CECAFA Cup . There he helped his team to win the title with five goals as top scorer. He scored nine goals in 25 international appearances.
