The competitor is a German television film by Dagmar Hirtz from 1997 .

action

The management consultant Katharina Nordberg is provided with the young, committed Maren Rieger as reinforcement. It is envisaged that she will take her place one day. The two women get together because of work, although they are competitors. When they were working on a new project with great success, the two women noticed that they found each other very likeable. After all, at the signing ceremony, there is sexual intercourse and the two meet regularly in secret. Katharina Nordberg has been more or less happily married for several years and has two children. She has to learn to deal with her newly discovered feelings.

The competitor was filmed in 1996 under the working title Die Geliebte . The film was produced by Fritz Wagner Filmproduktion. It premiered on July 2, 1997 at the Munich Film Festival and was first broadcast on television on August 15 of the same year on arte .
