Ezard Haußmann (born February 10, 1935 in Berlin ; † November 6, 2010 there ) was a German actor .

Ezard Haussmann's father was UFA actor Erich Haussmann . His mother was the singer, concert soprano and painter Ruth Wenger (1897–1994), daughter of the Swiss writer Lisa Wenger, and from 1924 to 1927 married Hermann Hesse , who called herself Claudia as an artist . Haußmann was raised in a Swiss boarding school with the support of Hermann Hesse since his parents were arrested in France during World War II . Then he began an apprenticeship at the hotel management school in Munich, which did not match his inclinations. Instead took Haußmann the activities at the Landestheater Detmold , where he worked as a prompter, lighting or Statist and began acting self-taught to master. In 1956, his parents moved with him to the GDR . In 1958 Ezard Haußmann was able to do his acting diploma at the Ernst Busch drama school in Berlin .

He initially stood on provincial stages such as Wittenberg , Quedlinburg or Stendal . In 1960 he returned to Berlin and worked at the Deutsches Theater until 1967 . In 1967 he moved to Berlin Volksbühne , where he the Harpagon in, among others, in 265 performances miser of Molière embodied. The Volksbühne was his artistic home for 23 years. His theater career in the GDR was interrupted when Haußmann carried a wreath to the Czech embassy in protest in 1968 after the crackdown on the Prague Spring .

In 2003 he and a few colleagues tried to keep the Berlin Schlosspark Theater as a traditional venue for bourgeois theater and wanted to make himself available as artistic director. This attempt failed due to the external conditions. He is the bearer of the Order of Merit of the State of Berlin (returned, but received again in 1993 by the then Governing Mayor Eberhard Diepgen ) and has been awarded other prizes, including in 1991 the " Golden Curtain " and the "Assignment of Respect" from the Christian Association Publicists.

Haussmann was married to Doris Haussmann and is the father of the director Leander Haussmann .

He died on November 6, 2010 after suffering from cancer for a long time and was buried in the Protestant cemetery in Berlin-Friedrichshagen .
