Tomy Wigand
Tomy Wigand (born July 12, 1952 in Ludwigsburg ) is a German film director and former film editor .
life and work
Tomy Wigand studied from 1976 to 1979 at the Munich University of Television and Film (HFF). After three short films of his own and the television directorial debut A Little Something Beautiful , he worked as editor for Roland Emmerich on the films Noah's Ark Principle (1984), Joey (1985) and Moon 44 (1990). A few years later Wigand was one of the scriptwriters of Hans W. Geißendörfer's Dürrenmatt adaptation Justiz (1993).
Wigand began his career as a director with the staging of numerous episodes of television series (including Alarm for Cobra 11 ) and several television films. His film debut as a director was the football fan milieu study Football is Our Life in 2000 , followed by Erich Kästner's remake The Flying Classroom (2003). For the latter he received the German Film Prize in 2003 . For the television film Willkommen im Westerwald , he and Beate Langmaack were awarded the German Civis Television Prize in the field of entertainment. His television film The Great Comeback was nominated for the German Comedy Prize and the Grimmepreis in 2012.
Tomy Wigand was one of the founding members of the German Film Academy in 2003 . Since 2008 he has been a lecturer in the directing course at the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy in Ludwigsburg.
