But even Dios is in front of a pile of broken glass: He learns of the negative opinion of the fans towards him and is advised by two police officers (who, however, do not recognize him) to never look at Schalke again, and his girlfriend is on fire with his Manager through. Dios decides to get a grip on his life. He returns to Hans, who is just writing his farewell letter. Hans plans to give Hilde the money to the life insurance with a faked fatal accident. Hans agrees to train Dios, but Dios suffers a circulatory collapse. Nevertheless, he appears the next day to the game, where he is greeted by the fans with boos. background

The film claims to play primarily in the Gelsenkirchen district of Schalke . The “Auf Schalke” fan bar shown is actually there, back then on Uechtingstrasse, today on Kurt-Schumacher-Strasse. A later scene in which fans of Schalke walk through a street and Hans, Mike, Bernie and Theo pursue the fleeing Dios, however, was filmed in the southern district of Ückendorf on Ückendorfer Straße several kilometers away .

The house in which Hans Pollack lives was on Steinstrasse in the Gladbeck district of Butendorf.

The Schalke player Yves Eigenrauch , who briefly speaks in the film, was actually a professional footballer at FC Schalke 04. Team supervisor Karl-Heinz “Charly” Neumann has other short guest roles , as well as the former Schalke manager Rudi Assauer and former coach Huub Stevens without texts . The well-known radio commentator Manfred "Manni" Breuckmann also plays himself in the film and allegedly comments on the game as in real life for the radio station WDR 2 . Furthermore, the sports presenter Uli Potofski plays himself in a short one-play. Helmut Schulte appears as the junior coordinator of FC Schalke 04 and offers Pollak's son a trial training session. The then Schalke players Olaf Thon and Mike Büskens , who is substituted for Di Ospeo in the film, also have short cameo appearances without text.

The stadium scenes were filmed before the home games against 1. FC Kaiserslautern and Eintracht Frankfurt in May 1999.

criticism

“And another“ proletarian ”comedy with dramatic features. Uwe Ochsenknecht's wig is just as tinkered as many annoying details in the story. Nevertheless, fans are not being dragged on here, rather an endearing charm is spread. "
