Felix Hassenfratz

Felix Nicolas Julien Hassenfratz (* 1981 in Heilbronn ) is a German film director and screenwriter .

Life

After graduating from high school, Felix Hassenfratz worked as a freelance writer and editor for magazine articles, as a set photographer and assistant director, etc. a. for Romuald Karmakar . From 2004 to 2007 he studied film directing at the International Film School Cologne (ifs). His graduation film there is the short film Der Verdacht , which u. a. was awarded the German Short Film Prize in the “Best Feature Film” category. The film was shown at the film festivals in Montréal, Palm Springs, Buenos Aires and St. Petersburg. In 2011, his directorial work for the documentary series Scavenger Hunt in the Holy Land was awarded the Grimme Prize .

The cinema debut Lost was invited to the official program of the 68th Berlinale 2018 and premiered in the “Perspective German Cinema Section”. The film has received numerous awards.

Felix Hassenfratz is a member of the German Film Academy. In spring 2019 he was a fellow at Villa Aurora Los Angeles. He lives and works in Cologne.
