occupation

Unterleuten - Das terrissene Dorf is a three-part German TV film based on the novel by Juli Zeh, which takes place almost exclusively in the fictional village of Unterleuten in Brandenburg in July / August 2010.

action

People of very different origins live in Unterleuten. When a wind farm is to be built in the immediate vicinity , old conflicts break out and new ones arise. In the end, two of the protagonists are dead, one seriously injured, one has to be cared for and three of the women, a baby, a dog and many cats have left town - but the writer finally has a title for his play. The plot of the multi-part is strongly based on the content of the novel .

production

The shooting took place from June 25 to October 13, 2018 in Brandenburg, including in Brieselang-Bredow and Willmersdorf near Werneuchen .

Reviews

“In Unterleuten, women are by far the smarter, but by no means the better characters. On the contrary. This is already the case with Juli Zeh, and Geschonnek adheres to it in his film adaptation, which is difficult to realistically grounded in the Brandenburg sand and told along the lines of the text, which one had actually imagined to be more comical, grotesque [...]. The three-parter has the look of a Spreewald thriller with a tendency to village western or better: Eastern. "

- Christine Dössel : Süddeutsche Zeitung

“[As] so often with Juli Zeh, in 'Unterleuten', too, great social ambition, rather modest linguistic means and no sense of humor come together. […] [T] he multi-part unraveling the confused plot threads of the book is not bad at all. One or the other of the actors [...] is allowed to suggest [his slight East German language coloring] [...]. Particularly in-depth knowledge about town and country, east and west should be looked for somewhere else, but 'Unterleuten' always provides good entertainment for a TV evening. "
