Dagmar Manzel (born September 1, 1958 in Berlin-Friedrichshagen ) is a German actress , singer and radio play speaker .

Life

Dagmar Manzel is the daughter of the teacher couple Paul and Annemarie Manzel (née Römer). After graduating from the Alexander von Humboldt Oberschule in Köpenick , she was trained in acting at the State Drama School in Berlin from 1977 to 1980 . In her second year of study she played in a TV-recorded production of Urfaust .

In 1980 she got an engagement at the Staatstheater Dresden and in 1983 at the Deutsches Theater Berlin , which soon became her artistic home. From 1983 to 2001 she was a permanent member of the ensemble and during this time worked with directors such as Thomas Langhoff , Heiner Müller , Thomas Schulte-Michels and Frank Castorf .

In addition to her acting activities, she also appears repeatedly in music theater productions as a guest. In 2002 she took on the title role in Thomas Schulte-Michel's production of Jacques Offenbach's operetta The Grand Duchess of Gerolstein at the Deutsches Theater Berlin and also played the leading role in his 2008 production of Offenbach's operetta La Périchole at the Berliner Ensemble .

In autumn 2004 Dagmar Manzel played the leading female role at the Komische Oper Berlin in Stephen Sondheim's musical Sweeney Todd , directed by Christopher Bond, on which Sondheim's piece was originally based.

In 2012 Manzel was awarded the German Film Prize for her supporting role in Christian Schwochow's drama The Invisible . Since 2015 Manzel has been on the second Tatort team of the Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation, which is investigating in Franconia , as chief inspector Paula Ringelhahn.

From 2012 she performed Seven Songs / The Seven Deadly Sins on the stage of the Komische Oper Berlin . In the operetta Ball im Savoy , as well as in the Komische Oper Berlin, she has played the role of Madeleine de Faublas since 2013. Since 2016 she has performed as Cleopatra, Queen of Egypt in the operetta Die Perlen der Cleopatra on the stage of the Komische Oper Berlin.

Since 1994 she has been a member of the Berlin Academy of the Arts .

Dagmar Manzel was married to the actor Marcus Kaloff and his second marriage to the actor, painter and poet Robert Gallinowski . She has a son (* 1994) and is the mother of actress Klara Manzel .
