action

The Brandenburg farmer Jutta Pohlmann lives a simple life with satisfaction. Her focus is her cow Gloria, which she enters in every beauty contest and always wins. Your great hope is now the federal decision. Suddenly her brother Thomas comes back to his parents' farm and wants to sell it, since half of them have been listening to him since his father's death. Jutta is annoyed because she keeps the farm going with a lot of vigor and privation and just manages to make ends meet financially - in contrast to Thomas with his annual salary of 120,000 euros as a Lufthansa pilot. So, in Jutta's opinion, he is not dependent on the money from the intended sale of the farm, but he still does everything in his power to convince his sister that they should both treat themselves to a quieter old age. Jutta doesn't want to hear about it and so Thomas turns to the entrepreneur and real estate dealer Gerd Klotzberg behind her back. Little does he know, however, that Jutta is having a secret affair with Klotzberg, whom she is trying to convince that he would destroy her home with his work. So it is inevitable that they quarrel and threaten to break up their relationship. Jutta also argues with Thomas every day because they have completely different views. After one of these differences of opinion, Jutta falls down the stairs in the house and sprains her ankle. As a result, Thomas has to relieve her of the work on the farm, which his sister rejects at first, but then has to accept that she has to accept the help. When Thomas learns that Juttas Techtelmechtel is the real estate agent from whom he has just obtained an offer for the farm, he tries everything that his sister does not find out about it. To make matters worse, his friend Ulli Richter appears unexpectedly and with it Thomas' life lie flies. He now has to admit to his sister that he and Ulli have been a couple for nine years, that he has been unemployed for eight months and would therefore need the money. For Jutta, however, the sale is out of the question, which ends in a renewed argument and rift between brother and sister. Only with the help of Ullis and Klotzberg, the two make up again. Jutta notices on this occasion that Klotzberg really means it and that he cares about her. Until Jutta is really fit again, Thomas wants to stay and help out on the farm. The first thing he does is ensure that Gloria, who Jutta keeps in the individual stable with exaggerated care, is allowed to go back to the pasture with her siblings. Jutta then realizes that it has actually been the same up to now and takes her brother lovingly in her arms.

Reviews

Rainer Tittelbach from Tittelbach.tv rated: “The story of 'Gloria, my sister's most beautiful cow' (ARD / Provobis) has been listened to to the rhythm of everyday village life. Small undramatic situations, in which the problems of modern agriculture or the desolation of rural areas are reflected, replace a continuous topic, interpersonal tensions dominate over a main conflict. Ingo Rasper cleverly interprets the subliminal relationship patterns of the family history as a primer under the plot, and the class duo Manzel / Prahl makes the sibling relationship the core of the story. It's also great how Rasper develops his dramaturgy from the rural communication style. "

For evangelisch.de , Tilmann P. Gangloff judged : “In view of the many aberrations that ARD subsidiary Degeto regularly makes with her Friday film titles, 'Gloria, my sister's most beautiful cow' is a pleasantly harmless label for one that is not stunning, but quite a respectable comedy. ”He went on to write:“ Since the inner tension is kept within limits, the film lives all the more from Manzel and Prahl, especially since both of them embody their characters with rough edges. ”“ The film [delights] above all with original ones Scenes (a book barn) and beautiful pictures of idyllic nature (camera: Andreas Höfer), including rattling storks; and happy cows anyway "

For the critics of the television magazine TV Spielfilm , Gloria, my sister's most beautiful cow, was a “moo-ntere comedy with serious undertones”. They gave the film the highest possible rating by pointing their thumbs up.
