Hannelore Unterberg
Hannelore Unterberg (born December 28, 1940 in Altenburg ; born Hannelore Neupert ) is a German film director and screenwriter .
Life
The daughter of the commercial clerk Werner Neupert and his wife Johanna was a member of an amateur drama group and from the age of 14 led, among other things, a music and a cabaret group. After completing her training as a kindergarten teacher, from 1958 she was the day care center manager at the Lehndorf Central School.
In 1967 she began to study directing at the German Academy for Film Art . She finished her studies in 1971 with the diploma film From One Who Set Out to Teach Lies . From 1972 to 1978 she worked for DEFA as a dramaturge assistant and was responsible, among other things, for the dubbed version of the script Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella .
Unterberg specialized in children's films and made her actual directorial debut in 1974/75 with frying pan and orchestra . It is a musical for children with numerous animated films and Unterberg's first son Tobias (* 1968) as the main actor. In 1981 she became head of the “Films for Children” working group. Her film Isabel on the stairs about a Chilean girl in East Germany, based on a radio play by Waldtraut Lewin , attracted particular attention.
After the reunification , her contract with DEFA was terminated in 1991. Since then, she has only received a few directing jobs, including episodes of the ZDF series Achterbahn and Karfunkel . Unterberg received international awards for her productions Concert for a Frying Pan, Isabel on the Stairs and The Girl from Chernobyl .
