Golden Talents

Golden Talents is the Switzerland-wide sports promotion program run by Swisscom specialist retailers. Potential future medalists are supported on their way into the world's elite. Talented top athletes from sports with little sponsorship benefit from monthly sponsorship contributions.

Purpose and functionality

In order to be able to concentrate fully on their goals, the sporting hopefuls are dependent on financial support. Golden Talents supports 30 top athletes from all over Switzerland with monthly contributions. The selection of the athletes takes place in cooperation with the Swiss Olympic Association .

Customers who buy an item with the Golden Talents sticker from a Swisscom specialist retailer make a contribution of three francs, 100 percent of which goes to the athletes in their region. Local sports clubs have the opportunity to distribute Golden Talents information material in the region and thus trigger a financial contribution to the club's coffers. Sports clubs that participate in Swiss Olympic's “cool and clean” prevention program are given preference.

history

Golden Talents was launched in June 2006 with a pilot project in Central Switzerland. The program was gradually exported to six other regions until it became national in June 2008.

The 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing provided a highlight in the history of the initiative: five of the Golden Talents athletes were able to qualify for participation. Ariella Kaeslin , as the most successful among them, achieved the best result ever achieved by a Swiss gymnast at the Olympic Games.
