Täuffelen (French formerly Chouffaille ) is a municipality in the Seeland administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland .

geography
Täuffelen is located on the south bank of Lake Biel . The community includes the two villages Täuffelen and Gerolfingen , which is why the community calls itself Täuffelen-Gerolfingen . The neighboring communities starting from the north in a clockwise direction are Mörigen , Epsach , Walperswil and Hagneck .
history
Both villages have Celtic roots and were first mentioned in documents in the 13th and 14th centuries. A few pile dwellings on the shores of Lake Biel prove the settlement in the Neolithic . The Counts of Fenis and then the Counts of Neuchâtel are documented as rulers of Täuffelen before it was assigned to the Bernese Bailiwick of Nidau as part of the County of Nidau.

The voting shares of the parties on the occasion of the 2015 National Council election were: SVP 35.2%, SP 18.5%, BDP 14.0%, FDP 11.9%, glp 6.8%, GPS 5.6%, EVP 3.2 %, EDU 1.5%, CVP 1.3%.
school
The Oberstufenzentrum Täuffelen is the regional public school for young people in grades 7 to 9. Catchment area: Hagneck , Epsach , Täuffelen-Gerolfingen, Mörigen and Sutz-Lattrigen . Around 20 teachers teach an average of 180 students in 10 classes.
The school building has rooms and infrastructure that are important for culture, clubs and leisure activities in the region: gym, indoor swimming pool, auditorium, multi-purpose room, library, air raid shelter and soccer field.
