Täuffelen is located on the south bank of Lake Biel . The community includes the two villages Täuffelen and Gerolfingen , which is why the community calls itself Täuffelen-Gerolfingen . The neighboring communities starting from the north in a clockwise direction are Mörigen , Epsach , Walperswil and Hagneck .

Both villages have Celtic roots and were first mentioned in documents in the 13th and 14th centuries. A few pile dwellings on the shores of Lake Biel prove the settlement in the Neolithic . The Counts of Fenis and then the Counts of Neuchâtel are documented as rulers of Täuffelen before it was assigned to the Bernese Bailiwick of Nidau ​​as part of the County of Nidau.
