Seedorf is a municipality in the Seeland administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland . Seedorf also includes the towns of Aspi bei Seedorf, Baggwil , Dampfwil, Frienisberg , Frieswil , Grissenberg, Lobsigen, Ruchwil and Wiler .
In addition to the community of residents, there is also a community of citizens with the families Bangerter, Isenschmid, Barth, Brunner, Frieden, Fuhrer, Gehri, Hänzi, Hofmann Hübscher, Hügli, Lauper, Leiser, Lobsiger, Moser, Nobs, Roth, Scheurer, Schori, Schwab, Seiler, Spring, Stämpfli, Stebler, Warus. The citizens own 2.08 km² of land.
geography
The municipality is located in the Swiss plateau at the foot of the Frienisberg and is 17 km from Bern and 3 km from Aarberg on the main road 236 Aarberg – Bern. In public transport , Seedorf is served by the Postbus line 105 Bern – Lyss .
Seedorf's neighboring communities are Aarberg, Grossaffoltern , Lyss , Meikirch , Radelfingen , Schüpfen and Wohlen .
In the municipality of Seedorf, the Lobsigensee is 100 m north of the Unterdorfstrasse from Seedorf to Lobsigen . The small lake with its prehistoric pile dwellings has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2011 .
history
The oldest surviving documentary mention of Seedorf dates from 1131. In the relevant founding document of the Frienisberg monastery, the priest Meffried von Seedorf was mentioned, who was listed as the first witness. In the buildings of the Frienisberg Monastery - a Cistercian abbey - the Frienisberg residential and nursing home has been located since 1897 .
Sandstone caves in the Räbhalen area were first mentioned in 1298 as goods near the so-called rock cellar and were inhabited until the 20th century.
