Maurice Dumesnil

Maurice Dumesnil (born April 20, 1884 in Angoulême , France , † August 26, 1974 in Highland Park , Michigan , USA ) was a French pianist.

Dumesnil studied piano with Isidore Philipp at the Conservatoire de Paris and was a piano student of Claude Debussy . He made successful concert tours through Europe and America . From 1915 he played in a piano trio with the violinist Jules Boucherit and the cellist André Hekking . He was a member of the examination boards for piano at the Conservatoire de Paris, at the École Normale de Musique de Paris and at the American Conservatory .

Dumesnil published several books on the piano music of Debussy ( How to play and teach Debussy , 1932; Claude Debussy: Master of Dreams , 1940).
