Igor Borissowitsch Nikitin ( Russian И́горь Бори́сович Ники́тин ; born April 25, 1966 in Ufa , Russian SFSR ; † September 17, 2013 in Tolyatti ) was a Russian ice hockey player and coach. In 1994 he became CIS master with HK Lada Tolyatti .
Career
Igor Nikitin began his career at the sports school of Salawat Yulayev Ufa , for whose men's team he made his debut in 1984 in the Vysschaya League , the highest Soviet division. In the same year he became European champion of the U18 juniors .
In 1985 he won the bronze medal at the U20 Junior World Championship and the gold medal at the same tournament the following year . In the 1986/87 season he played briefly for CSKA Moscow , but only came to nine missions before he returned to Ufa. Between 1988 and 1990 he was then active with Chimik Woskressensk and reached the runner-up with Chimik in the 1988/89 season.
In 1990 he graduated from the State Pedagogical University in Samara. Lada Tolyatti also played for the HK . As the captain of Lada , he won the CIS championship (MHL) and the MHL cup competition in 1994. In the following season he reached the runner-up in the MHL and second place in the European Cup . He then left the club and moved to CSKA Moscow for the 1995/96 season.
Before the 1996/97 season, he initially received a contract with AC ZPS Zlín , but only completed the preparation in the Czech Republic and then returned to the Volga region. There he played for the ZSK WWS Samara until 1999 . Further positions in lower-class leagues followed before he ended his career in 2002.
From June 2004 he worked as a trainer in the HK Lada sports school. He coached the juniors born in 1990 until 2007, the youth team in 1991 and the amateur team Lada I from 2007 to 2008 .
