Witali Semjonowitsch Dawydow ( Russian Виталий Семёнович Давыдов , scientific transliteration Vitalij Semënovič Davydov ; born April 1, 1939 in Moscow , Russian SFSR ) is a former Russian ice hockey player and trainer and a member of the IIHF Hall of Fame .

In the Wysschaja Liga Davydow graduated between 1957 and 1973 a total of 517 games for Dynamo Moscow . Despite his small stature for a defense attorney, he was known for his confident body checks .

Internationally, he competed for the Soviet national ice hockey team at a total of ten ice hockey world championships (1963 to 1972 in a row) and three Olympic Games (1964, 1968 and 1972). In 1967 he was named "Best Defender" at the World Cup. In 1963, because of his successes, he was awarded the title of Honored Master of Sports of the USSR .

After his active playing career, he devoted himself to coaching, including for the Soviet U20 national team (1977 to 1979) and was coach (1979 to 1981) and vice-president of Dynamo Moscow.

In 2004 he was honored with the IIHF Hall of Fame for his services in sport .
