Boris Viktorovich Alexandrov ( Russian: Борис Викторович Александров ; born November 13, 1955 in Ust-Kamenogorsk , Kazakh SSR ; † July 31, 2002 near Chelyabinsk , Russia ) was a Russian - Kazakh ice hockey player and coach .

Player career

During his career the striker, who was born in the Soviet Union at the time , played for HK CSKA Moscow , HK Spartak Moscow and Torpedo Ust-Kamenogorsk . In total, he scored 177 goals in 224 games in the Soviet league . He was appointed to the Soviet national ice hockey team at an early age . On November 11, 1975 he was in a game against Czechoslovakia for the first time for the Sbornaja on the ice. His international career was crowned with a gold medal at the 1976 Winter Olympics . For the national team, he scored 4 goals in 19 international matches. On December 21, 1977 he played his last international match. His last active season in 1989/90 he spent with Milan Saima SG in the Italian league.

In 2019 he was posthumously inducted into the IIHF Hall of Fame .

Coaching career

In the 1995/96 season, Alexandrov took over the coaching post of the Kazakh team Torpedo Ust-Kamenogorsk . At the same time he became the head coach of the Kazakh national ice hockey team , which he led to eighth place at the Olympic Games in Nagano .
