Karl Dykhuis (born July 8, 1972 in Sept-Îles , Québec ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who played 706 games for the Chicago Blackhawks , Philadelphia Flyers , Tampa Bay Lightning and Canadiens de Montréal between 1988 and 2006 has played in the National Hockey League on the position of defender . He was also active for Adler Mannheim in the German Ice Hockey League . However, Dykhuis celebrated his greatest career success in the service of the Amsterdam Bulldogs by winning the Dutch championship in 2005.

Career

The 1.89 m tall defender began his career with various teams in the Canadian junior league Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec before he was selected ( drafted ) in the 1990 NHL Entry Draft as 16th in the first round by the Blackhawks .

His first NHL inserts for Chicago graduated from the left shooter in the 1991/92 season , mostly however, he was at the Indianapolis Ice an IHL - farm team the Blackhawks used. Dykhuis only became a regular player when he was involved with the Philadelphia Flyers, to which he moved during the 1994/95 season and for which he was on the ice until 1997 . The Canadian then played for the Tampa Bay Lightning for a year and a half, but then returned to Philadelphia. For the 1999/00 season , the defensive man was transferred to the Montreal Canadiens, for which he was on the ice until the 2004/05 lockout , which he spent with the Amsterdam Bulldogs in the Dutch Eredivisie .

Dykhuis ended his career with Adler Mannheim in the 2005/06 DEL season . In the 2006/07 season , the Canadian was signed by the Vienna Capitals from the Austrian Ice Hockey League , but injured himself before the start of the season and ended his active career at the age of 34.
