Darcy Tucker (born March 15, 1975 in Castor , Alberta ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who played 947 games for the Canadiens de Montréal , Tampa Bay Lightning , Toronto Maple Leafs and Colorado Avalanche in the course of his active career between 1995 and 2010 of the National Hockey League on the position of the right winger . Tucker's brother-in-law is former Canadian ice hockey player Shayne Corson , who was also active in the NHL.

Career

Tucker, along with Tyson Nash and Ryan Huska, is one of three players to appear on the ice in all three Memorial Cup victories of the Kamloops Blazers in 1992 , 1994 and 1995 . During his time with the franchise from the Canadian junior league Western Hockey League , the winger was elected twice to the Memorial Cup All-Star Team and the WHL West First All-Star Team. He was also elected in 1994 with the best players of the Canadian Hockey League umbrella organization in their First All-Star team and received the Stafford Smythe Memorial Trophy as the most valuable player in the Memorial Cup. At the NHL Entry Draft in 1993 , the Montréal Canadiens secured the rights to the young player and finally used him for the first time in the 1995/96 season with their farm team Fredericton Canadiens in the American Hockey League .

This season, the Canadian was awarded the Dudley "Red" Garrett Memorial Award as the best rookie of the season, in addition, he received his first operating times with the Montréal Canadiens in the National Hockey League . After two and a half years in the Canadian metropolis, where the attacker reached the play-off quarter-finals twice with the Canadiens, Tucker was transferred to league rivals Tampa Bay Lightning together with Stéphane Richer and David Wilkie in exchange for Patrick Poulin , Igor Ulanow and Mick Vukota . There the attacker played three seasons and was finally given up for Mike Johnson to the Toronto Maple Leafs .

In the Conference quarter-finals in 2002 , Tucker checked the Canadian Michael Peca , captain of the New York Islanders , in the fifth game in the series with the hip, so that he suffered a double cruciate ligament tear in his left knee and was out for several months. However, no punishment was pronounced against Tucker. In the summer of 2006, the Maple Leafs signed Peca as the new teammate of the offensive player.

On June 24, 2008, Tucker became a free agent after the Toronto Maple Leafs terminated his existing contract. A week later, the links Sagittarius signed a with 4.5 million US dollars doped contract with the Colorado Avalanche . After two seasons with the Denver team , in which he could not build on his points yield in Toronto, Darcy Tucker announced his retirement from active sport on October 1, 2010.

International

With the Canadian junior national team Darcy Tucker won the gold medal at the Junior World Championships in 1995 .
