Igor Sergejewitsch Ulanow ( Russian Игорь Сергеевич Уланов ; born October 1, 1969 in Krasnokamsk , Russian SFSR ) is a former Russian ice hockey player who has been the assistant coach at HK Spartak Moscow since 2018 .
Career
His career began in 1985/86 with Molot-Prikamje Perm . The defender played here until he moved to SKA Sverdlovsk for the 1987/88 season. From 1990 to 1992 he played for Chimik Voskressensk . In the 1991 NHL Entry Draft , he was selected in the tenth round in 203rd place by the Winnipeg Jets . After the fall of the Soviet Union , he dared to make the leap into the National Hockey League.
At the end of the 1991/92 season he joined the Jets and immediately prevailed. During the 1994/95 season he was given to the Washington Capitals . The 1995/96 season he began with the Chicago Blackhawks . During the season he moved to the Tampa Bay Lightning and played there two and a half seasons. In the NHL he spent a total of 14 seasons until 2006.
In 2006 he returned to Russia to join Lokomotiv Yaroslavl . In January 2008 he left the club due to an argument with the coach at the time. He spent the 2008-09 season at HK Dinamo Minsk before retiring from his career.
In October 2012 he was introduced as the head coach of Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg and looked after the team until the end of the season. He then became the assistant coach of his successor Anatoli Jemelin . In the 2015/16 season he was assistant coach at HK Spartak Moscow , then he worked at HK Lada Tolyatti in the 2016/17 season . The following season he was assistant coach at HK Yugra Khanty-Mansiysk before returning to HK Lada in 2018.
International
In 1994 he was appointed to the team of the Russian national team and took part in the World Cup, where his team took fifth place. Two years later he took part with the Russian selection in the World Cup of Hockey , where they reached the semi-finals.
