Krasnokamsk ( Russian Краснокамск ) is a city in the Perm region ( Russia ) with 51,916 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).
geography
The city is located in the foothills of the Urals , about 35 km northwest of the regional capital Perm on the right bank of the Kama .
Krasnokamsk is administratively directly subordinate to the region and at the same time the administrative center of the raion of the same name . The urban-type settlement Overjata is subordinate to the city of Krasnokamsk.
The city is connected via a branch line to the Trans-Siberian Railway, which bypasses it a few kilometers to the north ( Owerjata station ).
history
Krasnokamsk was established in 1929 in connection with the construction of the Kama cellulose-paper combine ( Kamski zelljulosno-bumaschny Kombinat ) and received town charter in 1938. In the 1930s, crude oil was also discovered in the area around the town and Krasnokamskneft began to extract it .

The city has a local museum and an art gallery.

In addition to a cellulose and paper factory of the state- owned Gosnak, the largest company in the city, there are companies in the metalworking, chemical and food industries as well as a thermal power station.
