The Komi-Permyak Autonomous Okrug ( Russian Коми-Пермяцкий автономный округ , Komi-Permjazki awtonomny okrug ) is a former administrative unit ( Autonomous Okrug ) in Russia . On December 1, 2005, it was united with the Perm Oblast to form the Perm Region .
Within the Perm region there is now the Komi-Permyak District of the Perm Region ( Russian: Коми-Пермяцкий округ Пермского края , Komi-Permjazki okrug Permskogo Kraja , Komi- Permjakis, PerschorКемi Komi ладорисem )
geography
The autonomous district was west of the Ural Mountains on the upper reaches of the Kama . It had an area of 32,900 km².
population
In 2004 the population was around 134,000. The Komi-Permyaks , a Finno-Ugric ethnic group closely related to the Komi , made up 60% of the population, 36% were Russians .

history
The region became part of Russia in 1472 , and the Autonomous Okrug was established in 1925 . After a referendum at the end of 2003, the Autonomous Okrug was united with the Perm Oblast on December 1, 2005 and forms a district (Okrug) within the Perm region.
economy
The area of the former Autonomous Okrug is rural, only in the former capital Kudymkar there are smaller industries. The most important branch of the economy is the wood industry.
