The Komi-Permyak Autonomous Okrug ( Russian Коми-Пермяцкий автономный округ , Komi-Permjazki awtonomny okrug ) is a former administrative unit ( Autonomous Okrug ) in Russia . On December 1, 2005, it was united with the Perm Oblast to form the Perm Region .

Within the Perm region there is now the Komi-Permyak District of the Perm Region ( Russian: Коми-Пермяцкий округ Пермского края , Komi-Permjazki okrug Permskogo Kraja , Komi- Permjakis, PerschorКемi Komi ладорисem )

The autonomous district was west of the Ural Mountains on the upper reaches of the Kama . It had an area of ​​32,900 km².

In 2004 the population was around 134,000. The Komi-Permyaks , a Finno-Ugric ethnic group closely related to the Komi , made up 60% of the population, 36% were Russians .

The region became part of Russia in 1472 , and the Autonomous Okrug was established in 1925 . After a referendum at the end of 2003, the Autonomous Okrug was united with the Perm Oblast on December 1, 2005 and forms a district (Okrug) within the Perm region.

economy

The area of ​​the former Autonomous Okrug is rural, only in the former capital Kudymkar there are smaller industries. The most important branch of the economy is the wood industry.
