Ochansk ( Russian Оханск ) is a small town in the Perm region ( Russia ) with 7250 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).
geography
The city is located in the foothills of the Middle Urals about 120 km southwest of the regional capital Perm on the right bank of the Kama .
Ochansk is the administrative center of the raion of the same name .
history
Ochansk was first mentioned in 1597 (according to other information 1547) under the name Ochannoje (later also Ochanskoje or Ochan ) in the area ruled by the Stroganov family . In 1781 the place was given city rights under its current name. The name refers to a local name for a special type of large-mesh fishing nets (see also city arms).

The main branch of industry is the textile industry (factory of Talan AG ), as well as construction and wood industries .
