At the end of the season he rose with Ufa in the second division, the Pervaya League . In 1985 Salawat managed to get promoted from the second to the first division, with Jemelin scoring 44 points in 57 games this season.

In 1987 he moved to SKA Sverdlovsk , for which he played for the next one and a half seasons in the Pervaya League before returning to his home club. In 1990 he received from Gennadi Zygurow , the new head coach of HK Lada Tolyatti , the offer to play for Lada. He accepted the offer and helped his new club on its way to the top of Soviet-Russian ice hockey. During the 1992/93 season he played in the Swedish Division 1 for Avesta BK , but then returned to Lada.

In the following four years he was two times CIS master and runner- up with the HK Lada . He also won the European Cup in 1996 and the silver medal at the IIHF Super Cup in 1997 .
