Anatoly Anatoljewitsch Jemelin ( Russian Анатолий Анатольевич Емелин ; born October 3, 1964 in Ufa , Russian SFSR ) is a former Russian ice hockey player who has worked as an ice hockey coach since his career ended in 1998 . He played for Salawat Julajew Ufa and HK Lada Tolyatti in the highest ice hockey league in the Soviet Union and CIS for many years , scoring 229 goals in 596 games. His son Konstantin Jemelin is also a professional ice hockey player.
Career
As a player
Jemelin began his career in his hometown ice hockey club, Salawat Yulayev Ufa , for whose first team he made his debut in the Vysschaya League during the 1982/83 season . At the end of the season he rose with Ufa in the second division, the Pervaya League . In 1985 Salawat managed to get promoted from the second to the first division, with Jemelin scoring 44 points in 57 games this season.
In 1987 he moved to SKA Sverdlovsk , for which he played for the next one and a half seasons in the Pervaya League before returning to his home club. In 1990 he received from Gennadi Zygurow , the new head coach of HK Lada Tolyatti , the offer to play for Lada. He accepted the offer and helped his new club on its way to the top of Soviet-Russian ice hockey. During the 1992/93 season he played in the Swedish Division 1 for Avesta BK , but then returned to Lada.
In the following four years he was two times CIS master and runner- up with the HK Lada . He also won the European Cup in 1996 and the silver medal at the IIHF Super Cup in 1997 .
International
Anatoly Jemelin represented the USSR at the Universiade in 1989 and 1991, where he won a gold and silver medal. He also ran for the Sbornaja at the 1994 Ice Hockey World Championship , where he scored two goals in six games and finished fifth with the team.

After the 1997/98 season Jemelin ended his playing career and was coach of the farm team of Lada Tolyatti, Ladja Tolyatti . A year later he was also assistant coach for the professional team under head coach Pyotr Vorobjow .
In April 2006, Jemelin was introduced as the successor to Vorobyov and was at that time the youngest coach of the Super League. In each of the first games against the previous head coaches of Lada, Gennady Zygurow and Pyotr Vorobjow, his team defeated the respective new teams of Zygurow and Vorobjow 3-1.
After the 2006/07 season, Jemelin was dismissed from Lada Tolyatti because the team had only reached eleventh place in the Super League. In November of the same year he became general manager at Amur Khabarovsk . At the end of December he took over the post of head coach at the same club and stayed in this position until October 2009. After that, he took over the managerial position at Amur again.
In November 2010 he became head coach at Metallurg Novokuznetsk and looked after the club until the end of the 2012/13 season, with his team missing the play-offs in every season. In March 2013 he was introduced as the new head coach at Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg . After two years at Awtomobilist, in which he had reached the round of 16 of the play-offs, he was hired as head coach by his home club from Ufa for the 2015/16 season. In October 2015 he was demoted to assistant coach and replaced by Igor Sacharkin.
From the end of September 2017 Jemelin was head coach at HK Yugra Khanty-Mansiysk before he returned to his home club for the 2018/19 season.
