Július Hudáček (born August 9, 1988 in Spišská Nová Ves , Czechoslovakia ) is a Slovak ice hockey goalkeeper who has been under contract with HK Spartak Moscow from the Continental Hockey League since May 2018 . His brother Libor Hudáček is also a professional ice hockey player.
Career
Július Hudáček began his career in his hometown at HK Spišská Nová Ves before moving to ŠKP PS Poprad for one season in 2004 . For Poprad he played in the U18 junior extra league in Slovakia. In 2005 he returned to his home club and continued to play for its youth teams.
Before the 2007/08 season he moved to HK Orange 20 , which exclusively includes members of the U20 national junior team and which takes part in the extra league. At the beginning of the 2008/09 season moved to HC Košice and was initially intended for its U20 team. Hudáček won a place in the extra league squad of HC Košice and contributed with very good performances to win his team's title. In the following two seasons he was able to repeat this success with Košice, where he was elected to the All-Star Team of the Extraliga in all three years of championship. In 2011 it also had the best catch quota in the league.
In the 2011/12 season Hudáček was under contract with Södertälje SK in HockeyAllsvenskan , the second Swedish division, before moving to Frölunda HC in the Elitserien in 2012 .
In April 2013 he was signed by HK Sibir Novosibirsk from the Continental Hockey League , but only completed one competitive game for Sibir in the KHL. In September 2013, another goalkeeper was committed with Mikko Koskinen and Hudáček fired. He was then without a club and was only signed by HC Pardubice from the Czech Extraliga in November and completed 38 games for Pardubice by the end of the season. He then moved to Örebro HK in the Svenska Hockeyligan ( aka Elitserien ) and was one of the statistically best goalkeepers in the league for the next three years. In 2015 he was named Goalkeeper of the Year ( Årets Målvakt ) and Most Valuable Player at the SHL Awards and had the best catch rate of all goalkeepers in the league with 93.0%.
In 2017 he was signed by Severstal Tscherepowez from the Continental Hockey League .
International
For Slovakia , Hudáček took part in the U20 World Junior Championship in 2008 , where he finished seventh with his team.
From 2010 he was a regular member of the Slovak men's national team and from 2012 he was a member of the national team at the World Championships . At the World Championships in 2016 and 2017 he was the Slovaks first goalkeeper.
