Career
Radil, born in Čáslav , spent his junior years at HC Pardubice . There the striker went through the junior division and made the jump to the U20 team, which played in the U20 extra league, in the 2007/08 season via the U18 team. In the same year, the 17-year-old played in the professional team, where he was on the ice six times in the relegation round. In the following two game years Radil was still mainly active in the U20 team Pardubices, but also collected his playing minutes in the professional squad in the extra league and on loan in the second-class first division at HC Chrudim . He spent most of the 2010/11 season in the extra league squad of HC Pardubice.
The attacker remained loyal to his regular club in the following years as well and celebrated winning the Czech championship title with the club in the 2011/12 season . Between 2011 and 2013 he also played on loan for HC Hradec Králové before leaving Pardubice in summer 2015. Radil signed a contract with HK Spartak Moscow , for which he hunted goals in the Continental Hockey League (KHL) until spring 2018 . The Czech played a total of 168 appearances for the Russian sports club. In April 2018, he finally signed a one-year contract with the San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League (NHL) for the 2018/19 season .
At the beginning of the season, Radil first found himself with the Sharks farm team , the San Jose Barracuda , from the American Hockey League (AHL), before he was appointed to the NHL squad for the first time at the end of November 2018 and subsequently with his performances there stuck. At the beginning of the new calendar year, his contract, which expired at the end of the season, was prematurely extended by one year. After two years in North America during which he failed to establish himself in the NHL, Radil returned to HK Spartak Moscow in the KHL in May 2020.
International
After a few appearances in the Czech U-national teams, Radil made his debut for the Czech A-national team as part of the Euro Hockey Tour 2013/14 . The striker's first major international tournament was the 2017 World Cup in Germany and France , with the Czechs finishing seventh. Radil played seven tournament games and scored twice. Barely a year later, he also took part in the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang . There he remained pointless in six games and finished the tournament in fourth place after defeats in the semi-finals and the game for third place.
