Andrei Sergejewitsch Subarew ( Russian Андрей Сергеевич Зубарев ; English transcription: Andrei Sergeyevich Zubarev ; born March 3, 1987 in Ufa , Russian SFSR ) is a Russian ice hockey player who has been with the HK Spartak Moscow from the Continental Hockey League ( HK Spartak Moscow ) since May 2020 Contract stands and plays there in the position of defender .
Career
Andrei Subarew began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth division of Salawat Yulayev Ufa , for whose professional team he made his debut in the Russian Super League in the 2003/04 season . In the 2005 NHL Entry Draft , the defender was selected in the sixth round as a total of 187th player by the Atlanta Thrashers . Instead, he stayed in the Super League and moved to Ak Bars Kazan . With Kazan he won the Russian championship in 2006 and the IIHF Continental Cup in 2008 . In the 2006/07 season, the left shooter with Ak Bars also made it into the championship finals, but failed with his team at HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk .
For the 2008/09 season Subarew signed with Atlant Moskovskaya Oblast from the newly established Continental Hockey League . In August 2010, Subarew signed a two-year contract with the Atlanta Thrashers . These put the Russian mainly in the AHL squad of the Chicago Wolves , where he was set as a regular player. After completing only four matches for the Thrashers in his only season in Atlanta, Subarew decided to return to Russia and in June 2011 accepted an offer from his ex-club Atlant Mytishchi.
In May 2012 he signed a two-year contract with his hometown club Salawat Julajew Ufa, where he played until the end of the 2014/15 season. He was then signed by SKA Saint Petersburg in May 2015 . There he celebrated winning the Gagarin Cup in 2017 . In summer 2020 he moved to HK Spartak Moscow after five years .
International
For Russia , Subarew took part in the U18 World Junior Championships in 2005 and the U20 World Junior Championships in 2006 and 2007 . At the men's ice hockey world championship in 2014 , he won the gold medal with the Sbornaya before becoming an Olympic champion at the 2018 Winter Games under a neutral flag.
