Anton Igorewitsch Slobin ( Russian Антон Игоревич Злобин ; born February 22, 1993 in Moscow ) is a Russian ice hockey player who has been under contract with HK Spartak Moscow in the Continental Hockey League since November 2018 . He plays in the position of the left winger .
Career
Anton Slobin comes from the youth team of HK Spartak Moscow . During his last junior season in Moscow, he scored 50 goals in 51 games and got 92 points. In the 2010 CHL Import Draft , the Cataractes de Shawinigan from the Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec , the highest junior league in the Canadian province of Québec , selected him in the first round in 15th position. Although he had almost no knowledge of English or French, he decided to move to Shawinigan in June 2010.
In his rookie season , Slobin completed 59 games for the Cataractes and scored 45 points. With five goals in the playoffs (including a game-deciding goal ), he contributed to the Cataractes moving into the second round, but where they failed because of the Remparts de Québec . His final breakthrough came in the 2011/12 season , in which he scored 40 goals and 76 points and had a plus / minus balance of +42.
In 2012 , Slobin first took part in the Memorial Cup , for which the Cataractes were automatically qualified as hosts. After finishing last in the preliminary round, thanks to two wins in the knockout round, the team moved into the final against the London Knights , in which Slobin equalized 1-1 for the Cataractes in regular time. So an overtime had to decide the winner of the Memorial Cup. After just under 18 minutes, Slobin scored the second goal for the Cataractes, who won their first Memorial Cup by winning. With a total of five goals and two assists, Slobin was the second best scorer of the tournament and was voted First Star in the final .
In June 2012 Anton Slobin was transferred to the Foreurs de Val-d'Or . In the 2012 NHL Entry Draft , the Pittsburgh Penguins selected him in the sixth round in 173rd place. After another year in the LHJMQ he switched to the organization of the penguins, where he was mainly used for their farm team in the American Hockey League , the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins .
The beginning of Slobin's professional career was marred by several injuries. He missed parts of the 2013/14 season due to a shoulder injury and was only able to play six league games in the following season. Nevertheless, in the play-offs for the Calder Cup 2014, with six goals and ten scorer points, he was one of the most successful players in his team that made it to the third round. After returning from his injury, however, he spent most of the 2015/16 season with the Wheeling Nailers in the ECHL .
After his three-year entry-level contract, Slobin returned to Russia and received a trial contract with HK Dynamo Moscow , who had selected him in the first round of the 2010 KHL Junior Draft . He then played for the Dynamo farm team, the HK Dynamo Balaschicha , in the Wysschaja Hockey League . During the 2016/17 season he made his debut for Dynamo Moscow in the Continental Hockey League , while also playing for Buran Voronezh in the second division.
In November 2018 he returned to Spartak Moscow.
