Michael "Mike" Amadio (born May 13, 1996 in Sault Ste. Marie , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Los Angeles Kings in the National Hockey League since March 2016 .

Career

Michael Amadio ran for Sault Ste. Marie North Stars in his hometown before being selected in the 2012 Priority Selection of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) in 36th position by the Brampton Battalion . The attacker spent his rookie year in Brampton, but moved the team to North Bay after just one season , where it was renamed the North Bay Battalion . In the following season 2013/14, the team reached the final of the OHL playoffs for the J. Ross Robertson Cup , but lost there to the Guelph Storm . Amadio was then considered in the NHL Entry Draft 2014 in 90th position by the Los Angeles Kings , but initially returned to the OHL as expected. There he increased his personal statistics significantly to 98 scorer points in the 2015/16 season, in which he also led the team as captain . In addition, he was honored with the William Hanley Trophy as the fairest player in the league and appointed to the OHL Second All-Star Team .

In March 2016, Amadio signed an entry-level contract with the Los Angeles Kings and subsequently moved to their farm team , the Ontario Reign , in the American Hockey League (AHL), where he took part in eleven games in the playoffs for the Calder Cup . The center spent the following 2016/17 season entirely in Ontario before making his debut for the Kings in the National Hockey League (NHL) in October 2017 . He has been there regularly since then, but occasionally switches back to the AHL.
