Timothy Robert "Tim" Schaller (born November 16, 1990 in Merrimack , New Hampshire ) is an American ice hockey player who has played for the Los Angeles Kings in the National Hockey League on the position of the center since February 2020 .

Career

Schaller first played in the Eastern Junior Hockey League for the New England Junior Huskies between 2007 and 2009 before going to Providence College . There he played alongside his studies for four years for the ice hockey program of the college in the Hockey East , a division in the game operations of the National Collegiate Athletic Association . In his last two seasons, the center forward filled the office of team captain . He was also voted the division's best defensive striker at the end of the 2012/13 season.

After completing his fourth year of college, the American switched to the professional career without drafting when he signed a two-year contract with the Buffalo Sabers from the National Hockey League in April 2013 . This put him in the course of the 2013/14 season in their farm team , the Rochester Americans , in the American Hockey League . Schaller mainly spent the following two seasons there, after his contract had been extended by a year in the meantime. During the 2014/15 season , the attacker finally made his debut in the NHL for the Sabers. After his contract expired in the summer of 2016 - in the meantime he had played 35 NHL games for Buffalo - the Boston Bruins secured the services of the free agent for the 2016/17 season in July . After two years in Boston, he joined the Vancouver Canucks in July 2018, again as a free agent .

Schaller spent almost one and a half years in Vancouver before he was handed over to the Los Angeles Kings in February 2020 with Tyler Madden , a second-round vote for the NHL Entry Draft 2020 and a conditional four-round vote for the NHL Entry Draft 2022 . In return, the Canucks received Tyler Toffoli .
