Sean Iain Walker (born November 13, 1994 in Keswick , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Los Angeles Kings in the National Hockey League since July 2018 and plays for them in the position of defender .

Career

Sean Walker played in his youth for the Georgina Ice and the Newmarket Hurricanes in the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL). Since he failed to make the leap into the highest-ranking junior league in his home province, the Ontario Hockey League , he moved to the college sector in the USA for the 2013/14 season . There the defender ran for the Falcons of Bowling Green State University in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA), a league in the game operations of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Over the next four years he steadily increased his attacking statistics, while he was elected to the WCHA Second All-Star Team in 2016 and 2017 . In these two seasons, the Canadian also led the Falcons as team captain .

Without being considered in an NHL Entry Draft , Walker joined the Ontario Reign from the American Hockey League (AHL) for the 2017/18 season . There he convinced with 28 scorer points from 64 games, so that in July 2018 he signed an entry contract with their cooperation partner from the National Hockey League (NHL), the Los Angeles Kings . He made his NHL debut for Los Angeles in October 2018 and spent the season in roughly equal shares in the NHL and AHL, representing the Reign at the 2019 AHL All-Star Classic . With the start of the 2019/20 season, the defender established himself in the Kings NHL line-up.
