Patricia Bayer

Patricia Bayer (born September 4, 1952 in Middletown (Connecticut) ) is an American art historian and non-fiction author .

life and work

Patricia Bayer attended Mercy High School in Middletown until 1970 . She then majored in theology and minor in English at Barnard College in New York City ( BA ) and art history at the Institute of Fine Arts at New York University ( MA ).

The art historian specialized in the late 19th and early 20th centuries . The focus of her publications is on the design and architecture of Art Deco and the jewelry and glass artist René Lalique , a representative of this art style. Bayer is also devoted to philo-cartography , collecting and researching postcards.

Since 1993 she has contributed to the Encyclopedia Americana and the Encyclopedia of New York State (2005).
