The Kiev Kho Ma Dam is a dam with hydroelectric power station in Chae Hom County, Lampang Province , Thailand . It damms the Wang into a reservoir.

The dam is used for flood protection, irrigation, drinking water supply and electricity generation. Construction began in 2005; it was completed in 2010.

Barrier structure

The barrier structure is an earth embankment dam with a height of 43.5 m. The length of the dam crest is 500 m; it lies at an altitude of 355.5 m above sea level . The width of the main dam is 275 m at the base and 8 m at the crown.

The main dam has both a bottom outlet and a flood relief . A maximum of 1209 m³ / s can be discharged via the flood relief. The flood relief is on the right side of the main dam at a distance of about 100 m.

To the right of the flood relief there is a side dam about one kilometer away. The length of the dam crest is 300 m. The width of the secondary dam is 102 m at the base and 6 m at the crown.

Reservoir

With the normal storage target of 350.20 m, the reservoir extends over an area of around 7925  Rai (12.68 km²) and holds 170 million m³ of water. With a minimum congestion target of 325 m, the area is 1063 Rai (1.7 km²) and the volume is 6.2 million m³; for the maximum congestion target of 352.90 m, the corresponding values are 9600 Rai (15.36 km²) and 208.6 million m³.

power plant

The installed capacity of the power plant with three turbines is 5.5  MW ; two turbines have a maximum output of 2.5 MW, the third has a maximum output of 0.5 MW. The annual production is 33.42 (or 50.657 or 69.37) million kWh . The machine house is at the foot of the main dam.

The power plant is owned by the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) and is also operated by EGAT.
