Career
The 1.83 m tall center began his career with the Brampton Battalion in the Canadian Junior League Ontario Hockey League before he was selected in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft as 57th in the second round of the Blues.
First, the Canadians played for the Worcester IceCats , an AHL - farm team of the St. Louis Blues, his first NHL game completed McClement on 5 October 2005 against the Detroit Red Wings , his first goal followed on 11 October 2005 against the Chicago Blackhawks . The left shooter is one of five NHL players to date who scored their first career goal with a penalty . In 2007 , he became world champion with the Canadian national team .
After a total of almost eight years in the Blues franchise , the center was transferred to the Colorado Avalanche on February 19, 2011 in a swap deal with Erik Johnson and a first-round suffrage in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. In return, St. Louis received defender Kevin Shattenkirk , the Attacker Chris Stewart and a second-round vote in the same draft. After his contract with the Avalanche had expired after the 2011/12 season , McClement signed on July 1, 2012 as a free agent a two-year contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs . McClement fulfilled this and switched to the Carolina Hurricanes in July 2014, to which he remained loyal until summer 2017.
In August, the Canadian without a contract initially received a trial contract with the reigning Stanley Cup winner Pittsburgh Penguins , which, however, did not subsequently commit him. From the end of October 2017 to the summer of 2018, he was under contract with EHC Olten ( Swiss League ) in Switzerland .
