Pierre-Marc Bouchard (born April 27, 1984 in Sherbrooke , Québec ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player and official. The center played over 600 games in the National Hockey League , much of it for the Minnesota Wild , for which it was active from 2002 to 2013. After two years with EV Zug in the Swiss National League A , he ended his active career.
His younger brother François and his cousin Pierre-Alexandre Parenteau are also professional ice hockey players.
Career
Pierre-Marc Bouchard began his career as a hockey player with the Saguenéens de Chicoutimi , for which he was active from 2000 to 2002 in the Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec . After he had ended his rookie season , the 2000/01 season as the most successful points collector within the team and was subsequently honored with several awards - including the Coupe RDS for the best newcomer to the league - the center forward succeeded in his offensive qualities noticeably more dominant in the following season Set scene. The regular 2001/02 season ended Bouchard with a yield of 140 scorer points , for which he had laid the foundation with his 94 assists. In addition to the LHJMQ scorer title, he also won the CHL Top Scorer Award as the best point player in the entire Canadian Hockey League . As the winner of the Michel Brière Trophy for the most valuable player in his league, Bouchard then prevailed against Dan Hamhuis from the Western Hockey League and Brad Boyes from the Ontario Hockey League in the election for CHL Player of the Year . He was also selected by the LHJMQ with the Michael Bossy Trophy as the league's most promising talent for the upcoming NHL Entry Draft .
He was then selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2002 in the first round as the eighth player of the Minnesota Wild , for which he made his debut in the National Hockey League in the 2002/03 season . Between 2002 and 2013, Bouchard played continuously for the Minnesota team. Only during the lockout in the 2004/05 season was the attacker the entire season on the ice for their farm team , the Houston Eros , in the American Hockey League .
In July 2013, Bouchard signed a one-year contract with the New York Islanders , who placed him on the Waiver after 28 missions and then sent him to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in the AHL. In February 2014 he was given to the Chicago Blackhawks .
For the season 2014/15 Pierre-Marc Bouchard signed a one year contract with the EV train from the Swiss National League A . In December 2014, Bouchard agreed with the club on a contract extension until the end of the 2016/17 season. In the 2015/16 season he was voted the best player in the main round ("qualification") by the team captains and coaches of the NLA clubs, after leading the league in assists (55) and scorer points (67).
After the 2015/16 season, Bouchard ended his active career, citing health problems, especially with regard to the risk of further concussions , as a reason. Between 2012 and 2014 he was President of the Saguenéens de Chicoutimi in the LHJMQ.
International
For Canada , Bouchard took part in the U18 World Junior Championship in 2002 and the U20 World Junior Championship in 2003 . The attacker finished the U18 Junior World Championship in 2002 with twelve points in eight matches as the best scorer in the Canadian selection, but remained without a medal. A year later, at the U20 Junior World Championship in 2003, Bouchard won the silver medal with the maple leaves .
