Michel Bergeron Trophy
The Trophée Michel Bergeron ( English Michel Bergeron Trophy ) is a trophy of the Québec Major Junior Hockey League . It has been awarded annually since 1981 to the league's best rookie among all offensive players.
At the same time, the Raymond Lagacé trophy has also been awarded since 1981 for the best newcomer to the league among defensive players . The Coupe RDS has served the best league newcomer among all players since 1992 . Until 1981, the award known at the time as LHJMQ Recrue de l'année ( English QMJHL Rookie of the Year ) honored the best rookie among all players.
The trophy is named after Michel Bergeron , who played in the QMJHL between 1971 and 1974 and later played for the Detroit Red Wings and Washington Capitals in the National Hockey League .
