Dmytro "Dima" Timashov ( Ukrainian Дмитро Тимашов / Dmytro Tymaschow; * 1. October 1996 in Kirovohrad , Ukraine ) is a Swedish -ukrainischer hockey player who, since February 2020 the Detroit Red Wings in the National Hockey League is under contract.
Career
Dmytro Timashov, born in Ukraine, comes from the offspring of Sollentuna HC. He came to Djurgårdens IF in December 2011 via Nacka HK and SDE HF , and was active for their U16, U18 and U20 teams until January 2013. In 2012, he won the age group championship with the club's U16 team. In January 2013 he moved to MODO Hockey within the J20 SuperElit , Sweden's top U20 division, and at the end of the season he won the runner-up for the under-20s.
During the 2013/14 season Timashov made his professional debut in the Svenska Hockeyligan , the highest Swedish league, but was also used in the U20 team. He also received a gaming license for the second-rate playing club Mora IK . After another loan assignment at IF Björklöven , Timashov moved to Canada for the 2014/15 season to the Remparts de Québec from the Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec (LHJMQ). There he scored the most points (90) and assists (71) of all rookies in his first season and was awarded the Coupe RDS and the Trophée Michel Bergeron as the best rookie and best offensive rookie. He was also elected to the All-Rookie Team and took part in the 2015 Memorial Cup with the Remparts as the host team . In the subsequent NHL Entry Draft 2015 , the Toronto Maple Leafs selected him in 125th position.
In January 2016, Timashov moved within the LHJMQ to the Cataractes de Shawinigan , which in return transferred three draft rights to Québec.
At the beginning of the 2016/17 season , the attacker switched to the organization of the Maple Leafs and will initially be used by their farm team , the Toronto Marlies , in the American Hockey League . With the Marlies he won the playoffs for the Calder Cup at the end of the 2017/18 season . After another season with the Marlies, the striker made his debut with the Maple Leafs in the National Hockey League at the beginning of the 2019/20 season . However, when he was to be sent back to the AHL via the waiver in February 2020 , the Detroit Red Wings took over his contract.
International
Dmytro Timashov represented Sweden at the World U-17 Hockey Challenge 2013 , where he won the gold medal and contributed three assists in six games. At U20 level, he made his debut at the U20 Junior World Championship in 2016 , where he finished fourth with the team.
