Dennis Cholowski (born February 15, 1998 in Langley , British Columbia ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Detroit Red Wings in the National Hockey League since April 2017 and for their farm team, the Grand Rapids Griffins , in the American Hockey League is used.

Career

Dennis Cholowski was born in Langley and played there in his youth for the Langley Eagles, among others . At the end of the 2013/14 season he moved to the Chilliwack Chiefs in the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL), which is the second highest junior league in the region after the Western Hockey League (WHL). In the Chiefs' jersey, the defender significantly increased his personal statistics for the 2015/16 season to 40 scorer points from 50 games, so that he was selected in the subsequent NHL Entry Draft 2016 in 20th position by the Detroit Red Wings . As a result, Cholowski decided to move to St. Cloud State University , with their ice hockey team, the Huskies , he participated in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) game in the 2016/17 season . In addition, he made his debut at the end of the game year for the farm team of the Red Wings, the Grand Rapids Griffins , in the American Hockey League (AHL) and thus in the professional field. Shortly before, Detroit had given him an entry-level contract .

After a year in college , however, the Canadian returned to his homeland by joining the WHL's Prince George Cougars . He spent almost half of the season there before being transferred within the league to the Portland Winterhawks in January 2018 . With the Winterhawks, he finished the season and then completed another AHL game for the Grand Rapids Griffins, before he earned a place in the Detroit Red Wings squad as part of the preparation for the 2018/19 season. As a result, Cholowski made his debut in the National Hockey League (NHL) in early October 2018 .

International

On the international Cholowski participated in the World Junior A Challenge of the Year in 2015 and won it with the team Canada West gold medal.
