Charles Simard-Hudon (born June 23, 1994 in Alma , Québec ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Canadiens de Montréal of the National Hockey League since May 2013 and also for their farm team, the Rocket de Laval , in the American Hockey League is used.

Career

youth

Charles Hudon played in his youth for the Vikings de Saint-Eustache , among others , before he was selected in the 2010 entry draft of the Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec (LHJMQ) in sixth position by the Saguenéens de Chicoutimi . The Sagueneens the winger established promptly as a regular scorer, scored in his first LHJMQ season 60 points scorer in 63 games and as a result of which was RDS Cup and the Michel Bergeron Trophy as the best rookie award of the League and the LHJMQ All-Rookie team appointed . After he had confirmed this performance in the following season, which elected him Canadiens de Montréal in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft at the 122nd position. With the beginning of the 2012/13 season, Hudon took over the office of team captain in Chicoutimi, before the Canadiens equipped him with an entry contract in May 2013 . The Canadian then made his professional debut in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Hamilton Bulldogs , the Montréals farm team , but was unable to establish himself there for the time being and returned to the LHJMQ for another year. The Saguenéens gave him in January 2014 in exchange for four draft voting rights to the Drakkar de Baie-Comeau , with whom he subsequently reached the playoff final for the Coupe du Président , but there the Foreurs de Val-d ' Or succumbed.

NHL

At the beginning of the 2014/15 season, Hudon switched permanently to the Canadiens organization and initially spent a full season with the Hamilton Bulldogs, where he was second-best scorer with 57 points and therefore became the AHL All-Star Classic and the AHL All-Rookie Team was called. In December 2015, he finally made his debut for the Canadiens in the National Hockey League (NHL), but, as in the following year, only made three appearances in the highest-ranking league in North America. Instead, the attacker spent most of the time with the new AHL farm team, the St. John's IceCaps , until he earned a place in the NHL squad in Montréal as part of the preparation for the 2017/18 season and has since been used there regularly.

International

On an international level, Hudon made his debut in the World U-17 Hockey Challenge 2011 , in which he finished fourth with the Canadian selection as well as a little later at the U18 World Cup 2011 . In the same year, he won the gold medal at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament 2011 , before the attacker achieved another fourth place with the U20 national team at the 2014 U20 World Cup .
