Konstantin Nikolajewitsch Kornejew ( Russian Константин Николаевич Корнеев ; born June 5, 1984 in Moscow , Russian SFSR ) is a Russian ice hockey player who has been playing for Severstal Tscherepowez in the Continental Hockey League since June 2017 .
Career
Konstantin Kornejew began his career with Krylya Sowetow Moscow . For the club he played until the summer of 2003, among other things, in the third-class Pervaya League and the first-class Super League . In the NHL Entry Draft 2002 he was selected by the Montreal Canadiens in the ninth round in 275th place. From the 2003/04 season , the defender played for league rivals Ak Bars Kazan . Kornejew won the Russian championship title with the Tatars in the 2005/06 season .
After three years in Kazan, the defender moved back to his hometown in the summer of 2006. Kornejew was under contract with the HK CSKA Moscow Army Club from 2006 to 2010. In the 2010/11 season he was the team's captain . In December 2010, the defender returned to Kazan.
International
Kornejew played with the Russian national team for the first time at the U18 Junior World Cup in Slovakia in 2002 , where he won the silver medal with the team and was elected to the all-star team of the tournament. He also played at the U20 Junior World Championships in Canada in 2003 and in Finland in 2004 , where the Russians remained without a medal.
For the seniors he was in action at the 2007 , 2008 , 2009 , 2010 and 2011 World Championships . He was also a member of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver . In 2008 and 2009 he became world champion with Russia. He also won the silver medal in 2010 and the bronze medal in 2007.
