Kevin Romy (born January 31, 1985 in La Chaux-de-Fonds ) is a former Swiss ice hockey player who was active for many years for Genève-Servette HC and HC Lugano in the National League . In 2006 he won the Swiss championship with Lugano . Romy also took part in seven world championships and an Olympic ice hockey tournament for the Swiss national team.

Career

Kevin Romy began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in 2000 with HC La Chaux-de-Fonds , with whom he was relegated to the National League B in his first season in professional ice hockey . Despite the direct resurgence, Romy left the club in 2002 and switched to Genève-Servette HC , for which he played three more years in the NLA. During this time, he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2003 in the fourth round as a total of 108th player by the Philadelphia Flyers , for which he never played. In the summer of 2005, the attacker received a contract with HC Lugano , with which he became Swiss champions for the first time in his career in 2006 . From autumn 2012 Romy was back on the ice for Genève-Servette HC, with which he won the Spengler Cup in 2014 and 2015 .

Due to several injuries, he recently did not play full seasons and therefore ended his active career after the 2018/19 season. In total, he completed 840 games in the National League.

International

For Switzerland Romy took part in the U18 World Championships in 2002 and 2003 , as well as in the U20 Junior World Championships in 2003 , 2004 and 2005 .

In the senior division, Romy was part of the Swiss national team at the A World Championships in 2005 , 2006 , 2009 , 2010 , 2012 , 2014 and 2015 . At the Olympic Winter Games he was on the ice for the Swiss Confederates for the first time in 2014 in Sochi , after he had previously participated in the qualification for the 2006 Games in Turin , but was not considered for the Olympic tournament after the successful qualification tournament in February 2005 in Kloten .

He made a total of 153 international matches for Switzerland.
