Career

Ádám Vay began his career in the youth department of SHK KSK Bratislava, for which he was active in the second Slovak U18 league. After stints at HK Trnava in Slovakia and the Patriots Budapest in the multinational junior league Molodjoschnaja Chokkeinaja Liga , he moved to the United States for the first time in 2013, where he played with the El Paso Rhinos in the Western State Hockey League. In 2014 he was able to win the league with the Rhinos, to which he made a significant contribution with the best catch quota and the lowest goals against goals. After a year with Debreceni HK in the MOL league, he returned to North America. There he was under contract with the AHL club Iowa Wild for two years , but only came to two missions in the second year. Instead, he mainly played for their farm teams Quad City Mallards (2016/17) and Rapid City Rush (2017/18) in the ECHL . Since 2018 he has been playing for HK Saryarka Karaganda from Kazakhstan in the Russian Vysschaja Hockey League .

For Hungary, Vay took part in the U18 World Championships in Division I in 2010 , 2011 and 2012 and in the U20 World Championships in Division II in 2011 , when he achieved the third-best catch quota after the two Poles Robert Kowalówka and Bartłomiej Niesłuchowski .

In the senior division, he made his debut in the Hungarian national team at the 2016 World Cup , but had to accept relegation from the top division. For example, he played at the 2018 World Cup , when he was elected to the All-Star Team and the best goalkeeper of the tournament with the second best catch rate after the Kazakhs Henrik Karlsson , in Division I.
