Tamás Sille ( Hungarian Sille Tamás , Slovak Tomáš Šille ; born November 23, 1969 in Dunajská Streda , Czechoslovakia ) is a former Slovak - Hungarian ice hockey player and current coach who was active in both countries, but played internationally for the Hungarian national ice hockey team.
Career
Tamás Sille, who was born as a member of the Hungarian minority in Dunajská Streda , began his career in the Slovak capital, Bratislava , where he played for HC Slovan in the Czechoslovak 1st division . After an interlude at the Slovak second division club HC Dukla Senica , he moved to the Slovakian extra league in 1997 for HK 36 Skalica , for which he played for three years. He then worked for Alba Volán Székesfehérvár for six years , with whom he was Hungarian champion in 2001, 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006 and also won the Interliga in 2003 . In 2006 he returned to Skalica, where he played again in the Extraliga until 2009. Shortly before the end of the 2008/09 season he moved to HC Csíkszereda , with whom he was able to win the MOL league in the same year . Despite this success, the team from Transylvania left again and joined the Budapest Stars , with whom he was able to win the MOL League again in 2011. After the stars withdrew from the MOL league for financial reasons, he returned to Székesfehérvár, where he played in the Austrian ice hockey league for two years before ending his career in 2013.
International
For Hungary , Sille first took part in the 2003 World Cup in Division I at the age of 33 . Also in 2004 , 2005 , 2006 , 2007 , 2008 , 2010 , when he had the best plus / minus balance of the tournament, in 2011 , 2012 and 2013 he played for the Magyars in Division I. He was also part of the Hungarian team, the at the 2009 World Cup for the first time in 70 years played again in the top class of the World Cup, but could not avoid the immediate relegation.
He also took part in the Olympic qualification for the Games in Turin 2006 and Vancouver 2010 .
Coaching career
Shortly before the end of his active career, Sille was already working as an assistant coach in the Olympic qualification for the Winter Games in Sochi 2014 , an activity that he repeated during the qualification for the Games in Pyeongchang 2018 . He was also an assistant coach at the Men's World Championships in Division I 2015 and the Top Division 2016 as well as the U20 World Championships in Division II 2014 and Division I 2015 .
Sille was also the assistant coach of his former club Alba Volán Székesfehérvár between 2013 and 2016 . Since spring 2016 he has been the sports director at KMH Budapest .
