Bence Svasznek ( Hungarian Svasznek Bence ; born July 25, 1975 in Budapest ) is a former Hungarian ice hockey player and current coach, who was under contract with Alba Volán Székesfehérvár for much of his career .
Career
Bence Svasznek began his career as a hockey player in the youth department of the Újpesti TE , for whose professional team he was active in the Hungarian ice hockey league from 1994 to 1996 . Then the defender played for four years for his league rivals Ferencvárosi TC . Then Alba Volán Székesfehérvár took him under contract. With the team he was champion seven times in the following eight years . Only in the 2001/02 season he missed this success with Alba Volán. At the same time, the national player and his team took part in the multinational interleague . This was won in 2003 and 2007.
In the 2007/08 season Svasznek played almost exclusively in the Austrian ice hockey league , in which Alba Volán had been included in this season. It was only for the playoffs that he was brought into the squad of the Alba Voláns team from the Hungarian ice hockey league and scored once in 13 games and provided three assists. From 2008 to 2011 the Hungarian played for the Budapest Stars in parallel in the newly founded MOL League and the Hungarian Ice Hockey League. For the 2011/12 season he returned to his hometown club Újpesti TE. In January 2012 he joined the Miskolci Jegesmedvék JSE , where he ended his career at the end of the season.
International
Svasznek represented his native Hungary for the first time at the Junior C World Championship in 1994 when the team finished fifth. In the senior division, the defender was used for the first time at the 2001 Division I World Cup . Up until the Division I World Cup in 2010 , he was part of the Hungarian squad. The greatest successes during this time were the promotion to the top division at the World Cup of Division I in 2008 and the associated participation in the 2009 World Cup in Switzerland . In addition, he was on the ice for the Magyars in the Olympic qualification for the Winter Games in Vancouver 2010 .
The defender made 145 international appearances for the Hungarian national team.
Coaching career
After his active career, Svasznek hit the coaching career. He was in charge of the Hungarian U18 selection at the 2014 and 2015 World Championships in Division I as well as the U20 selection at the 2013 and 2016 World Championships in Division II. Since 2015 he has also been the assistant coach of MAC Budapest in the MOL league .
