Thorsten Schilling (* 1960 in Dresden ) is a German journalist and editor-in-chief of the fluter magazine .

Life

Thorsten Schilling studied philosophy and Marxism-Leninism in Leipzig from 1982 to 1986 , after which he worked as a freelancer in Berlin (East). On July 7, 1989, he was expelled from the GDR .

From 1990 to 1991 he was press spokesman for the magistrate of Berlin (East) and from 1991 to 1994 press spokesman for the Senator for Youth and Family in Berlin. From 1995 he works as a project manager u. a. for Galerie Eigen + Art, Berlin Biennale for Contemporary Art. As part of documenta X, he organized in 1997 together with Geert Lovink, Pit Schultz u. a. the Hybrid WorkSpace as a temporary media laboratory. In 1998, Schilling was a founding member of mikro eV and until 2000 chairman of the Association for the Care of Media Cultures in Berlin. This was followed by a brief interlude as Director Corporate Communications of the software company Subotnic 1999–2000. Since October 2000 he has been head of the Multimedia & IT department at the Federal Agency for Civic Education . Schilling currently lives in Bonn and Berlin.
