Balázs Kangyal ( Hungarian Kangyal Balázs ; born July 24, 1969 in Budapest ) is a former Hungarian ice hockey player who played for Alba Volán Székesfehérvár for more than a decade .

Career

Balázs Kangyal began his career as an ice hockey player at Népstadion SE from Budapest, for whose team he was active in the Hungarian ice hockey league from 1988 to 1990 . He later played for local rivals Újpesti TE and Ferencvárosi TC . With the team from Franzensvorstadt he became the Hungarian champion in 1997 . In the same year he was named the best defender in Hungary. He then moved to Alba Volán Székesfehérvár , where he was under contract for eleven years and, in addition to his appearances in the Hungarian league, was also on the ice from 1999 to 2007 in the Interliga and 2007/08 in the Austrian ice hockey league . With Alba Volán he was Hungarian champion in 1999, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 and also won the Interliga in 2003 and 2007. In 2008 he joined the Budapest Stars , with whom he won the multinational MOL league in 2010 . There he ended his career in 2011.

International

For Hungary , Kangyal first played at the C World Championships in 1991 , 1992 , 1993 , 1994 , 1995 , 1997 , 1998 and 2000 and the B World Championship in 1999 . After switching to the current category system, he took part in the World Championships in Division I in 2001 , 2002 , 2003 , 2004 , 2005 , 2006 , 2007 , when he was voted the best defender of the tournament, and in 2008, as well as in the World Cup in the top division in 2009 when the Magyars were first class again in 70 years. He also represented his colors at the qualifying tournament for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver . In total, he completed 237 games for the Hungarian team.
