The 2011-12 season was the Central Hockey League's 20th regular season . The 14 teams completed 66 games each in the regular season . The Central Hockey League was played in two conferences . The Fort Wayne Komets first won the Ray Miron President's Cup through a success in the final series against the Wichita Thunder .
Team changes
The following changes were made before the start of the season:
- The Bloomington Prairie Thunders ceased gaming
- The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs stopped playing
- The Colorado Eagles switched to the ECHL
- The Mississippi RiverKings moved to the Southern Professional Hockey League
- The Odessa Jackalopes stopped playing
- The Bloomington Blaze were added to the league as an expansion team
