Team changes
The following changes were made before the start of the season:
- The Dayton Gems stopped playing.
- The Evansville IceMen switched to the ECHL .
- The Fort Wayne Komets switched to the ECHL .
- The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees stopped playing.
- The Laredo Bucks went inactive.
- The Denver Cutthroats were added to the league as an expansion team.
