Ron Kennedy Trophy

The Ron Kennedy Trophy is an annual award for the Most Valuable Player ( Most Valuable Player ) of the Austrian Erste Bank Hockey League . It has been awarded since the 2008/09 season.

Since the 2009/10 season the award has been named the Ron Kennedy Trophy in memory of the player and coach Ron Kennedy , who died of cancer on July 9, 2009. Kennedy had played in the Austrian league in the eighties and was later, among other things, coach of the Austrian national team and various ÖEHL clubs for several years . In the 2008/09 season he had coached HC Innsbruck, but had not been able to finish the season due to the progressive illness.

The winner of the trophy is determined every year through a vote among specialist ice hockey journalists.
