Niclas Bergfors (born March 7, 1987 in Södertälje ) is a Swedish ice hockey player who has been under contract with Djurgården IF in the Svenska Hockeyligan since February 2017 .
Career
Niclas Bergfors began his career as an ice hockey player in his hometown in the youth field of Södertälje SK , for whose professional team he made his debut in the Elitserien in the 2004/05 season . The attacker was then selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2005 in the first round as a total of 23 players by the New Jersey Devils . After he played in his first two years in North America exclusively for New Jersey's farm teams , the Albany River Rats and Lowell Devils from the American Hockey League , he played a total of nine games for the New Jersey Devils in the National Hockey League in the following two seasons on ice. Mainly, however, the Swede ran again for the AHL farm team from Lowell.
On February 4, 2010 Bergfors was transferred to the Atlanta Thrashers together with Johnny Oduya , Patrice Cormier and a draft pick for the first round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft , while in return Ilya Kowaltschuk and Anssi Salmela came to the Devils. In addition, the teams also exchanged their voting rights in the second round of the same draft. At the end of February 2011, shortly before the trade deadline, it was given to the Florida Panthers in a transfer deal .
On July 3, 2011, Bergfors signed a one-year contract with the Nashville Predators . In December 2011 he moved to Ak Bars Kazan from the Continental Hockey League , but left it again in January 2012 and was committed by Severstal Tscherepowez .
During the Expansion Draft on June 17, 2013, Bergfors was selected by Admiral Vladivostok . In December 2015, he moved to Amur KHLArovsk within the KHL , where he had played 23 KHL games by the end of the season.
In summer 2016 Bergfors returned to Sweden and was signed by Linköpings HC , where he played in 37 SHL games and 8 Champions Hockey League until February 2017 . He then moved to Djurgården IF shortly before the start of the play-offs .
